A magnificent late 18th or early 19th century Maori wooden taiaha, in mint condition with 71 Maori dog hair tassels and rare extinct bird feathers. Carved head with paua shell serrated eyes. Provenance: The vendor's great uncle returned from World War I with the taiaha having found it amongst a ship's Captain's sea chest from the south Pacific. Length 173 cm
