Gorham Manufacturing Company was founded in 1831 in Providence, Rhode Island, by Jabez Gorham. Gorham started as a small silversmith workshop and quickly established a reputation for producing high-quality silver products. One of the most significant events in the company's history was the Great Exhibition of 1851 in London, where Gorham exhibited its silverware and received international recognition for its quality and craftsmanship. This event helped to establish Gorham as a leading manufacturer of silver products, and the company continued to grow throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.
