Ebenezer Coker was born in 1710 in Hertfordshire, England. He was apprenticed to Joseph Smith, a silversmith in Clerkenwell, London, in 1728. After completing his apprenticeship, Coker established his own business in Clerkenwell in 1739. Coker was a successful silversmith, and his work is characterized by its high quality and elegant design. He specialized in making candlesticks, salvers, and other tableware. His work is often decorated with floral motifs and other decorative elements. Coker died in 1783. His business was continued by his son, also named Ebenezer Coker.
