A Chinese meiping vase is a type of ceramic vase that were produced in China. from the Song Dynsasty (960-1279AD) onward. Meiping translates as "plum vase" from Chinese, and refers to the shape of the vase, which has a narrow base that gradually widens towards the shoulder before tapering towards the neck. Typically made of porcelain or stoneware, Meiping vases were decorated with a variety of motifs and designs, including floral patterns, landscapes, and calligraphy. The vases were often glazed in vibrant colors such as blue, green, and red, and were sometimes embellished with gold or silver leaf. Meiping vases intended to hold a single branch of plum blossoms, which were associated with the arrival of spring and the renewal of life.
