Reg Preston was born in 1917, Australia. He studied sculpture at Westminster School of Art, London but is self-taught as a ceramicist. His first solo exhibition was in Melbourne in 1958. He was a founder of the Potters' Cottage, Warrandyte, Victoria in 1958, where he has taught part-time. During the 1960s Preston and his wife produced a line of pottery under the name “Ceres". He switched to stoneware in the mid 1960s and continued working well into the 1980s. His work can be found in the Art Gallery of Western Australia and the National Gallery of Victoria as well as regional galleries. Reg Preston died in 2000.
