Poul Volther (1923-2001) was a Danish furniture designer who is best known for his simple, functional, and elegant designs. He was a master of craftsmanship and had a deep understanding of the materials he worked with, such as wood, leather, and fabric.
He was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1923. He began his career as a cabinetmaker, and then went on to study furniture design at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts. After graduating, he worked for a number of Danish furniture companies, including FDB Møbler, where he was appointed artistic director in 1950.
