Also, December 5-8, 1789: With an entry headed 'Mr. Ephraim Daniel, of Baker's Row, Mile-end, received the following letter from a friend in Holland last week: '....your unfortunate relation who left you with the transports for Botany Bay......has settled at Port Jackson, and has leave to teach the children of some of your nation [Jews] to read and write in your own way......'.
