Pringle, James: Found guilty of stealing a shovel at Northumberland Quarter Sessions, and transported for 7 years aboard the 'Maria Somes' (departed 22 April 1844, arrived at Vdl 30 July 1844): printed vellum document filled out in mss in various hands, being a complete record of the prisoner's physical description, periods in chain gangs and their locations, his various subsequent offences and sentences, the last entries being 10 Apr.1852 ('disobedience') and 26 Nov.1852 ('neglect of duty') both of which resulted in a month being added to his sentence. While a prisoner, Pringle was tried and found guilty of assaulting and stealing from Joseph Stanbrook and was sentenced to be 'transported for life'. He was susequently sent to Norfolk Island.
