A brass single draw telescope by Thomas Peacock, Auckland, with 22 inch main tube and 17 inch extension tube, 2 inch objective lens with protector slide. Fitted with a gimbal mount. Peacock, a Glaswegian optician and instrument maker emigrated to Auckland in 1862 and operated from Shortland Street until election to the Council subsequently becoming Mayor and an MP.
