Elongated Fang Ngil Sorcerer hunting mask, with good surviving pigments, Gabon, good old rendition of a powerful Fang ngil dance mask with its elongated face and predominantly white pigment, indicating its place in the spirit world. These masks were used to sniff out village sorcerers in rituals that were suppressed by the colonial authorities because of the violence they engendered.
