A collection of six studio pottery wares by Ian McKay, comprising: a pair of oil spot bowls 12 cm diameter, a tea bowl in kuan glaze on White stoneware 9 cm high, lidded box, a soba glaze on porcelain box 7.6 cm diameter, a cylinder vase, black oil-spot on White stoneware 25 cm high, a cylinder vase, brown oil-spot 32 cm high and a celadon blossom jar 25.5 cm high. Provenance: Margaret Vine purchased from the Queensland Potters Association, August 1981 purchased July 1989 purchased as catalogue no. 13, Hugo Galleries, Manuka ACT. November 1989 purchased February 1991 from plain linen shop, Manuka ACT purchased February 1991 from the plain linen shop, Manuka ACT purchased June 1994 from Victor Mace Gallery, Milton Queensland Other Notes: Ian McKay (1943-1990) was born in north Queensland. He studied music and English literature at the University of Queensland and librarianship in Sydney and Canberra before taking up pottery in 1972, training first with Errol Barnes, then with Col Levy.
