52 cm.Played at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, the single Test match, won by Australia, was the first test... 1946 Australian Tour to New Zealand: Official team photograph (by C.P.S. Boyer, Wellington) signed by the 14 members of the touring party, led by captain, Bill Brown and including Keith Miller, Ron Hamence, Don Tallon, Bill O'Reilly, Sid Barnes and Ray Lindwall. Attractively annotated in black and gold against a green background; acid-free mounting, framed and glazed. Overall 104.5 x 52 cm. A particularly rare signed photograph. Played at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, the single Test match, won by Australia, was the first test match between these two countries. It was also the first test match played by Australia after World War Two. Australia won by an innings and 103 runs. The five-week adventure to New Zealand was the first overseas tour by an official Australian cricket team since the 1938 Ashes tour and launched the careers of many future test stars, including Keith Miller, Don Tallon and Ray Lindwall. It was, however, the last tour for legendary leg-spinner Bill 'Tiger' O'Reilly, whose wonky knees finally had given way. Don Bradman, Australia's unrivalled pre-war batting colossus, declined to tour owing to ill health - many feared that the Don's cricketing career was over.
