Rare original letter signed by Wallis simpson, [1896-1986] Duchess of Windsor, in Paris, 18 September 1972, this letter to Antonio Ponsa Fernandez dated Monday September 18 is signed 'Wallis simpson, Duchess of Windsor'. It thanks him 'For the lovely freesias' he had sent her not long after her husband's death on 28 May 1972. The postmark is of the post office located in rue Singer in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, a short distance from 4 route du Champ d'Entrainement where both Wallis simpson and her husband resided from 1952 until their deaths. The property was owned by the city of Paris. Edward [1894-1972] abdicated as King Edward VIII in 1936 to marry Wallis simpson and he was known as the Duke of Windsor.
