The Australian Jam Company Football Team, Premiers 1917, a fine studio portrait of the team (by Tesla of Chapel Street, Prahran) which won a workplace football competition that year. Attractively presented in a period frame, glazed, overall 59 x 70 cm. A very fine and rare picture. The Australian Jam Company (later Henry Jones IXL) occupied the building still known as 'The Jam Factory' between 1876 and the early 1970s. 'A social history of workplace Australian football, 1860?1939' by Peter Burke (2008) in support of his Ph.D is available online and gives a valuable insight into the role and impact the workplace football team in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.
