St Kilda: 1933 sterling silver badge with enamel crest & 'St Kilda Defeated Nth Melb/With 15 Men, May 27th 1933', and on reverse 'Presented To, C.Deane Coach, A Member of the Team, On This Memorable Occasion'. (The Football Record stated, 'St Kilda scored the most meritorious victory by any league side for some years. It was not so much the brilliance of the football, but rather the dogged determination and real Aussie fighting spirit that enabled them to see it out and win a glorious victory with only 15 men'. The following week, the club committee struck a medal for their players (some of whom were still injured). As the medals were presented in the same year that St Kilda began to regularly include a shield on the front of their club jumpers, the medals have become linked to the shield).

- Sterling Silver - Sterling silver is a mixture of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% of another metal, usually copper. Fine silver is 99.9% pure silver, and is relatively soft and the addition of the very small amount of copper gives the metal enough strength and hardness to be worked into jewellery, decorative and household objects.
