Model of SS Oronsay (1925-1942) this model was built by the head cook onboard the ship at the time of her sinking by torpedo fire from the Italian submarine 'Archimede' 800 nautical miles off west Africa. He clung to a balk of timber from a cargo. He kept the balk of timber and later carved the hull of this model from the wood that had saved his life. Length 145 cm.
