French school - La Fee Urgele, 18th portrait of a French Actress 'A la Fee Urgele'. Oil on canvas. The fairy Urgele, or what Pleases women is a comedic opera in four acts by the composer Egidio Duni. The libretto, by Charles-Simon Favart, is based on Voltaire's Ce qui plait aux dames and Chaucer's the Wife of Bath's Tale. This portrait possibly depicts Marie-Therese Laruette (1744 '1837) a French opera singer. 1545 x 70 cm
