A pair of Doulton Burslem Lusian Ware vases decorated with Australian wildflowers, the ovoid body tapering to a narrow neck with a rim in the form of an open flower. Two twisted scroll handles extend from the body to the neck. The rim and borders are decorated with a raised gold foliate pattern. Both vases are hand painted with Australian flowers including Australian daisies, wattle and amaryllis belladonna, one signed 'L Bilton', printed factory mark to base, lusian ware, Registered R4 2072, height 31.2 cm. Other Notes: Louis Bilton (b. 1860) spent time in Australia working on the 'Picturesque Atlas of Australasia' this provided him with a portfolio of floral motifs which he reproduced for Doulton at their Burslem factory.
