A pair of neoclassical sterling silver candlesticks, 1957 Birmingham, with maker's mark for Henry Clifford Davis, elegant weighted candlesticks with integral sconces to carinate shaped urn form stems above spreading bases, hallmarked to foot rim, total weight 315gr, height 14.5 cm.

- Sconce - A light attached to a wall. Originally a candle holder that is attached to a wall with an ornamental bracket and sometimes with a reflective back plate, but now applied to an electric light that has been inspired by that design.
In recent times the word has also come into use to desribe the candle holders on a candelabra. - Sterling Silver - Sterling silver is a mixture of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% of another metal, usually copper. Fine silver is 99.9% pure silver, and is relatively soft and the addition of the very small amount of copper gives the metal enough strength and hardness to be worked into jewellery, decorative and household objects.
