Les Satyres de Guillaume Hogarth Published by Robert Sayer, 1768, first edition featuring 81 engraved plates after Hogarth's famous series including the Rake's progress, the Times of the day and Marriage a-la-Mode, height 47 cm, width 30 cm. Other Notes: one of the first authorised editions of Hogarth's works after his death in 1764, using his original metal plates. The plates were used for a number of later publications resulting in a progressive loss of definition and quality of the impressions. Therefore the engravings in this first edition display an exceptional level of detail and accuracy to the originals.
