(Parte Del Mare Pacifica), engraved by Vincent Mario Coronelli (Theologian, Mathematician & Cartographer, Venice), 1691. 46.5 x 61.5 cm (plate size), finely executed copperplate-engraved map with some sensitive hand-colouring showing the west coast of Australia and the East coast of New Zealand, as discovered by the Dutch in 1654; block-mounted, gilt framed and glazed, overall 76 x 91 cm. Coronelli was appointed cosmographer to the Venetian Republic and was commissioned to produce terrestrial and celestial globes for Louis XIV, which now reside in the Biblioth e que National Francois Mitterand in Paris.
