19th century Fijian lali-ni-meke dance drum. Used to accompany action songs, carved in the form of a miniature slit drum with fine dark patina. Accompanied by original auction catalogue. Length 40 cm. Provenance: Pickles Auctions, the 1986 sale of Captain W.C. Thomson's Estate lot 84.
