William Camkin: cue: 'The W.A.Camkin' cue made by Peradon, ash shaft with machine spliced butt, amboyna front splice, weight 17oz, length 57.5' (146 cm), soft vinyl cue case, c.1940s. William Camkin was a billiards/snooker entrepreneur and match promoter, running a number of billiard halls in the Birmingham area of England. One of his greatest achievements as a promoter was signing up Walter Lindrum for a 1930-31 tour of England and the USA.

- Amboyna - Amboyna is a tree native to Indonesia (named after the Indonesian island of Ambon) and South East Asia, and when harvested the timber has a fragrant rose-like scent, and is of a rich brown colour, usually harvested from the burl of the tree with "birds-eye" markings . In furniture is is usually veneered and used for decorative effects on top quality pieces.
