Painted ceremonial boomerang, Central Australia, carved and engraved hardwood and natural pigment (with custom stand) Typical Central Australian boomerang used in fighting or to provide musical accompaniment to singing by clapping a pair of them together. In the latter case the ends are painted with the design relating to the main mythological hero of the ceremony. Length 77 x 6.5 cm. Provenance: Adelaide Antique Auctions, Adelaide.
