A rare 19th century Fijian Chief's headrest (Kali), with rectangular wooden top section with slight curvature, the underside with medial ridge. The ends inlaid with pearl shell discs. Raised on triangulated whalebone feet attached by sennit binding, this Fijian head rest is exceedingly rare. Very few examples exist with whalebone feet, 56 cm length
