'John Bates & Company' (Christchurch) framed leadlight shop window. John Bates & Company famed for retailing high end ceramics and decorative arts such as Royal Doulton and other upmarket pottery, porcelain and glass makers of the time. The sign was used on their stand when they exhibited at the 1906/07 New Zealand international exhibition, 41 x 106 cm
