A jade 'Phoenix' disc bi, Warring States/Han Dynasty, circa 3rd BC. Well-carved to both sides of the surface with a band of comma spirals within inner and outer raised borders, and flanked on the edges by a pair of phoenix. The semi translucent stone of pale white colour with areas of russet inclusions, 7.2 cm long. Provenance: Purchased from Hong Kong in the early 90s.
