Superb canoe paddle, Nggao District, Santa Ysabel, Solomon Islands. Carved hardwood and natural pigment (handle restored) with arching crossbar handle, the leaf-shaped blade scorched and carved in shallow relief with narrow bands of repeating devices and comma shaped elements, length 106.5 x 16.5 cm.
