- Pyrex - Pyrex is a type of heat resistant glass first produced in the United States by the Corning Glassworks, New York in 1915. Initially used in the production of vessels for use in the chemical and medical fields, its use soon spread to production of items for use in the home kitchen. Pyrex wares were subsequently produced and sold under licence in the United Kingdom and other countries.
