New Zealand historical 9ct and enamel New Zealand V Wales Rugby brooch shield panel featuring Prince of Wales feathers and fern Frond to commemorate the 1905 Wales V New Zealand rugby match. Birmingham 1905 marker W.J.D for William James Dingley., together with New Zealand football team souvenir visit to Wales, December 1903 and postcard photo of the team, one of the most famous games in the history of rugby was played on 16th December 1905 at Cardiff arms park. This rare and perhaps unique medallion was possibly awarded to players (and committee members) before or after the game. The quality of the enamelling and gold used implies that the Welsh football Union recognised the importance of a match so aptly described as 'The greatest game ever played'
