A woven bird figure, Abelam tribe, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea, a beautifully crafted and painted 3-dimensional bird, with large wings, and one leg, it is in the transitional stage of becoming a 'Bird of paradise'. Probably related to yam fertility ceremony. Condition: there is a leg missing, height 35 cm, length 12 cm, width 12 cm
