Howson's 1912 Arts & Crafts pottery flambe vase, compressed flared top raised above the tapered body, rich dark and red glaze, height 32 cm. Maker's mark and date 1912 to base. Note: Richard Howson (Howson's, cousin of William Howson Taylor of Ruskin pottery, set up his production in Stoke on Trent in 1911, it closed in 1916 so its wares are rare. He employed Edward Wilkes, who was a former employee of Bernard Moore, and he developed his flambe glazes
