A rare carved pumice whakapakoko (head), the front with a well delineated face with protruding tongue, the reverse with an incipient carved face. Some losses evident. For a similar carved pumice head see the 'Te Maori exhibition Catalogue' (item 51). Provenance: field collection, 13 cm length.
