Rare Greywacke Patu Onewa with Incipient Carved Face

A rare greywacke patu onewa, the pecked blade reducing to the handle section with an incipient carved face to both sides. The blade with three incised lines and chipping to the outer rim. Provenance: Waimea plains, where Maori had numerous agricultural gardens, 26 cm length.
