A 20th century ngati tarawhai carved Wakahuia (treasure box), carved in rauponga patterns with pataki, the lid displays a central tiki figure in high relief with detailed manaia figures to each end. Paper sticker inscribed 'Carved as a gift to Ernest William Claydon in Auckland/Rotorua 1940's'. Small chip to the left side. 50 cm length
