A Kanak club, New Caledonia, 19th century. Used in combat as a weapon. Commonly known as a 'Mushroom' club or a 'Phallic' club. A cylindrical shaft with a domed head and incised detailing below. The pommel is a raised cylindrical form. Affixed to the club is label that reads 'New Caledonia 188- Wallace Coll no 24'. Length 98 cm, width 8 cm.
