Norman, London, in Carr's 'La Regence' pattern with all handles gilt, a service of 336 pieces, comprising twenty-four each of fish knives and forks, starter knives and forks, main knives and forks, fruit knives and forks, steak knives, soup spoons, dessert spoons, tea spoons, and coffee spoons, together with twenty-four serving pieces including a pair of large ladles, two pairs of salad servers, serving spoons, slices, and others, 12,639g (excluding those knives and serving pieces with polished steel parts)

  • Assay / Assayed - Assaying is the testing of a metal, most commonly silver and gold to determine its ingredients and quality.     It is less frequently used to describe all "flat' items of tableware, so that as well as cutlery the definition includes plates.
