Early contact period mere pounamu (short bladed nephrite weapon), crafted from Kawakawa variety pounamu, with spatulate blade. The blade tapers to the reduced grip section with countersunk suspension hole terminating in three reducing grooves, Provenance: Reputed to have belonged to the important Taranaki Nagti Ruanui chief, military leader, peacemaker and prophet Riwha Titokowaru, 28 cm length.
