A Japanese Sumidagawa lidded jar, the lid with a seated arhat rendered in high relief. The jar decorated with an arhat receiving offerings, Sumidagawa was made for export to the West and is usually heavy and covered with figures in relief. This distinct type of stoneware pottery got its name from the Sumida river running near the Asakusa pottery district near Tokyo, 20 cm height
