Tony White 18ct gold, sapphire and diamond necklace, property from the estate of a private Sydney collector, composed of a line of oval curblinks centring a collet-set heart-shaped sapphire weighing approximately 3.30 carats, flanked by a row of pave-set brilliant-cut diamonds, the small diamonds together weighing approximately 0.60 carats, length 395 mm, gross weight approximately 82 grams, signed white for Tony White. Other Notes: Tony White trained as an architect graduating from the University of Sydney in 1966. However, he soon turned his critical eye to jewellery design launching his first jewellery exhibition in 1971, aged 29 at the Bonython gallery in Paddington. His designs drew on his love of marine imagery, his travels to Africa, Asia and the South Pacific and his innate attraction to unusual gems sourced in the gemstone markets of Jaipur. Amongst others his clients are said to have included Kylie Minogue, Cate Blanchett, Julia Gillard, Pope John Paul II, Barbara bush, Lauren Bacall along with the future Queen of the United Kingdom, HRH Catherine, Princess of Wales.
