S.G. Wray antique English mourning brooch. A stunning piece of 18th century jewellery crafted in rose gold, set with five impressive diamonds and finished in blue and white enamel, emblazoned 'S.G. Wray, Nov. 9, 1790, Aged 10'. This piece was given by the Reverend Henry Wray (1727-1814) to his wife Sussana (nee Lloyd) following the death of their son at just ten years of age. The Wray family had lived at Brogden Hall, Kelfield in Yorkshire near the city of York since the 16th century. Accompanied by details of provenance. The brooch has remained in the Wray family to this day. 3.5 cm wide, 10.7 grams total
