United Tobacco Companies (South) Ltd., South Africa. The Springbok Series of 1912 Triangular Test Match Cricketers: A remarkable collection of these rarely seen cards comprising of Australian players (13-16 and 54-70), English players (33-52) and South African players (17-32 and 53). Mostly in extremely fine condition, presented in a period album together with research material, all of which is housed in a custom built wooden case. Total 58 cards. England, Australia and South Africa were the only three Test Match playing countries at the time. This is the largest assembly of these cards known to us. The Deadman Reprint Catalogue of 1985 records the existence of this series but names only two and both incorrectly. The London Cigarette Card Company Catalogue identifies only 28 in the series. Albert Cotter, who is included in the Australians, is the only Australian Test Cricketer to lose his life in the First World War.
