A Spectacular Body-Line Series Signed Cricket Bat. A 'Jack Ryder Special, Australian XI Jack Ryder Autograph ***' full sized cricket bat with a superb original pen and ink drawing signed by Arthur Mailey (a bewildered batsman looking at his scattered stumps) above a short piece of poetry attributed to C.J. Dennis. The rear surface of the blade displays the original signatures of the whole English touring party of 19 (including Jardine, Leyland, Hammond, Tate, Larwood and Bowes) and the Australian squad of 14 (including Woodfull, Richardson, McCabe, O'Reilly, Bradman and Grimmett). Beneath their signatures is a group of cricket greats including Hugh Trumble, Warwick Armstrong, Alan Kippax, Jack Ryder and the umpires for the match. At the top of the rear surface the signature of the Governor of Victoria (1926 - 31) Lord Somers and the Lord Mayor of Melbourne (1931 - 34) Sir Harold Gengoult Smith. Overall in excellent condition and a superb memento of this controversial Series. In a contemporary leather bat bag.
