Clive Churchill's No.1 Jersey For The 1952-53 Australian 'Kangaroo' Team Tour to France and Great Britain. The jersey is in very good match-worn condition, with the David Jones label still present. Provenance: The jersey has been in the possession of Dave Spring and his descendants, since the conclusion of the 1952-53 Tour. Dave Spring, grandfather of the present vendor, was a patron of South Sydney during the 1940s. He recruited Churchill to South Sydney from Newcastle in late 1946, with the episode recounted in Churchill's autobiography at page 48. The 1952?53 Kangaroo tour was the eighth Kangaroo Tour, in which the Australian National Rugby League team travelled to Great Britain and France and played forty matches, including the Ashes series of three Test matches against Great Britain and three Test matches against the French . The team was captained by Clive Churchill with Frank Stanmore as vice-captain.
