A German carved wood whistling automaton figure, second quarter 20th century, in the manner of Karl Griesbaum, with key winding movement within covered recess, bellows and left-to-right head movement, in a coarsely carved and stained wood figure of a middle aged man standing with books in his hands and wearing a cap, incised with initials Hw to the back of the base, the clockwork stamped Germany, with key. Height 32.5 cm
