A superb 18th century hei tiki. One of the smallest but most delicate and beautiful of the hei tiki offered in this catalogue. This type I form carved from kawakawa variety stone with pale chatoyant inclusions to the forehead and verso displays finely carved features, worn from significant age and use but clearly evident. Female sex is indicated. Three stoned drilled suspension holes, two intact and concealed through the back of the head, one earlier broken out. Height 6.5 cm.
