An antique French porcelain mounted brass jewellery casket, last quarter 19th century, retailed by Maison Alphonse Giroux, Paris, rectangular with an ogee-moulded hinged cover and monopod figures to the corners, on foliate scroll feet, the top and all sides mounted with black ground painted porcelain panels, those to the top and front decorated with classical figure compositions, those to the other sides with floral trophies of musical instruments and tools, the exterior otherwise engraved with trailing foliage, partly enamelled in black around the top, the interior lined with burgundy velvet, 12 cm high, 21 cm wide, 15.5 cm deep
