A Rare G. Boyd Newton Pottery bisque fired pair large garden vases on stands the urns with moulded Greek or Roman Classical figures and with masked handles to the sides, the lower urn body with moulded acanthus leaf decoration, the urns each upon a pedestal base supported on a square sectioned tall plinth, the four plinth panels with architectural features. Original white paint remnants to represent marble, one urn base with 'G. Boyd Newton Pottery Oval Impressed Mark. Note; Extensive Breaks to Urn, Handles to One Urn with Loss, Re-Attached Lip Large Chip. Height 139.5 cm

It is a common element in classical Greek and Roman design, and is often seen in Corinthian and Composite order columns and used as a decorative element in English, European and Australian furniture, particularly on the curve of a leg, and as decoration for a corbel.
