Don Bradman's 1948 Match-Used Cricket Bat: 'Sykes - Don Bradman' full size cricket bat, signed 'Don Bradman/Private' in the ownership position on reverse, with contemporary silver plaque affixed to reverse, 'This Bat Was Used By Don Bradman, 15.3.48, In His Last Innings In First Class Cricket In Australia When He Scored 115 For An Australian XI v West Australia'. Additionally signed on reverse by the 1948 Australian 'Invincibles' team, 18 faded signatures including Don Bradman, Lindsay Hassett, Ray Lindwall & Keith Miller. This was their last match in Australia before the tour of England. Mounted in a wooden display case with handle to the top enabling the bat to be rotated, overall 39 x 109 cm. Provenace: Exhibited at the Waca Museum 1984-2004. This bat was used by Bradman in his last ever innings on Australian soil as Australian captain. However, this was not the last first class innings that Bradman played in Australia as the plaque suggests. In December 1948 he played in his own Testimonial match at the MCG. In 1949 he played in the Alan Kippax-Bert Oldfield Testimonial at the SCG; and finally in the Arthur Richardson Testimonial (South Australia v Victoria Shield Match) at Adelaide Oval
