A carved soapstone figure of an ascetic and stand Qing Dynasty, 19th century the emaciated figure scantily clad in a dhoti draped around his waist, seated on rockwork, holding a staff in one hand, a pile of scrolls on a ledge nearby, his head gazing forward with tightly curled hair, beard and eye brows, carved from a caramel coloured stone with reddish suffusions, carved rockwork stand (2), 19 cm (overall)
